On Redgully, every ordinary nametag can protect an owned, tamed animal. No special item or payment required.
HOW TO PROTECT A PET
Protection begins only when you newly name an animal you own.
Tame a wolf, cat, parrot, horse, donkey, mule, llama or another Minecraft animal with a real owner. Untamed animals do not qualify.
Right-click your own tamed animal while holding any ordinary nametag. Enter a name in the sign editor. A pre-named nametag can supply the initial name.
After confirming the name, the pet becomes invulnerable to ordinary Survival damage, including mobs, drowning, fire, lava and explosions. Protection persists through world saves and restarts. You'll receive a private chat explanation.
Look at the pet you want to unprotect and run /pets release once. The server remembers that exact animal for 20 seconds. Then run /pets release confirm (or /pet release confirm) without needing to keep looking at it. Ownership and protection are checked again before removal. This does not harm the animal.

RECALL YOUR PETS
Stand somewhere with safe open ground and run /pets recall all. Redgully checks your tracked pets and brings them back, including pets left in previously visited unloaded chunks or other dimensions. Both /pet recall and /pets recall are shortcuts for all.
A pet must have been seen at least once since tracking was enabled, through taming, naming or loading its chunk. The server will not scan the entire world for older animals. Animals that died, were deleted or are being ridden cannot be brought back.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW
Previously named animals and pets that were tamed before the plugin was installed do not gain protection until a nametag is newly used on them. Nametags still work normally on wild and non-tameable mobs.
Protected pets can still follow, sit and act normally, but cannot attack players or other players' tameable pets. Protection covers gameplay damage, not operator commands, administrative deletion or world corruption.
Read the in-game /pet information, or find Pet Protection in Navigator → Community.

No. Only the pet's owner can confirm removal using /pet release.
Use /pets recall all (or /pet recall) in a safe open area. Redgully retrieves indexed, tamed pets belonging to you from loaded and previously tracked chunks, including other dimensions. It cannot recover animals that have died, been deleted or have never been seen since the pet-tracking system was enabled. Visit an old pet's area once to add it to the registry.
